There is plenty of beauty to discover around Lake Zug on foot. The boat takes you there and back.
Discover the idyllic Zug region! It's so much easier to hike with a fabulous view across the lake, through lush meadows and shady forests, with a permanent view of the peaks of the Rigi.

Route
Rotkreuz – Chiemen – Baumgarten – Immensee – Rotkreuz
Description
Take the Stadtbahn from Zug to Rotkreuz – on foot in the direction of Buonas – through Sientalwald – ascent via Auleten to Breitfeld – over the motorway bridge to Brüglen – via Stockeri and Eichholz to Grenzbach – lakeside path to Itelfingen – along the lake shore around the Chiemen peninsula – Baumgarten – Immensee jetty (return journey by boat) – Zug – take the Stadtbahn to Rotkreuz
(This is a description of the option with a return journey by boat from Immensee to Zug and on the Stadtbahn to Rotkreuz. On the tour description map, the tour is only shown as far as Baumgarten (the jetty at Baumgarten has not been in use since 2011).

The Zug region for culture vultures: Past beautifully decorated farms and the old castle ruins of the lords of Hünenberg, this tour leads you to a special gem, the late Gothic church of St. Wolfgang with its famous tabernacle.

Description
Zug – Rotkreuz (on the Stadtbahn) – Rotkreuz SBB – to Binzmühliweiher – along the bank of the Reuss River to the railway bridge – ascent to Meisterswil – through Lowald to the castle ruins of the lords of Hünenberg – Drälikon – straight ahead, then up to Wart – St. Wolfgang – under the motorway tunnel, turn right to Rütiwald – Cham jetty – Zug – Rotkreuz (on the Stadtbahn)

Escape the day-to-day: take the bus and funicular, and you can be surrounded by nature in less than 30 minutes from the city centre. This hike takes you through the stunning upland moors of the Zugerberg and promises a unique panorama as far as the Bernese Alps.

Description
From Zug station take bus line 11 to Schönegg – Zugerberg mountain station – direction of Walchwil – Altenboden – Chellenweid – over the Ober Horbach to Schuristein – at the same altitude, continue to Lienisberg and Tossetschwändi – turn right and go down through Schwändeli to Gibel – steep descent to Freudenberg – along the road to Walchwil jetty

At the start of the hike you will find Restaurant Zugerberg, after that there are no more restaurants along this route until Walchwil. After this hike, reward yourself with a cruise on Lake Zug and indulge in a tasty treat on board.
